first blog post in a really long time, and it’s for Mother’s Day because you’ve wanted me to blog lately. so yes. as i’ve told you many times, i consider you to be one of my best friends and favorite people to talk to, and i really hope i’m like you when i grow up. i know we didn’t really do anything today but there’s still Swedish Mother’s Day coming up and i hope you had a nice day anyway, even though you didn’t get to go to Pripyat.

i only blogged a few times in January. rawwwr. and this is the first time in February.
we have made the decision that we are traveling to Bangkok this Sports Break. that’s in a little over two weeks. we’re leaving the Friday before the break begins. i’m actually excited about it because it’s going to be super warm, there are a lot of American chains there that aren’t in Sweden, we’re going to have an awesome hotel, Thai food is amazing, and also shopping. hooray! i’m going to Aaasiaaaa!
i don’t really know what else to say. i spend a lot more time on Tumblr than i do blogging here now.
i’m doing the 60-Day Challenge on Facebook but i’m sucking cause i keep skipping days all the time. it’s fun, though. i love things like that a lot. i’m also doing a 10-day one on Tumblr.

yes, i made it a Polaroid picture with a Windows Live Writer border. that’s right.
until my birthday and seeing one of my favorite bands in the world live for the first time. exactly two months.
also, i’ve gotten hooked on Tumblr now. www.meggerdoodles.tumblr.com in case you’re interested in seeing lots of random pictures from the internet that i post and the occasional pictures i took myself. i knew that once i started actually actively using Tumblr i’d get addicted.
i don’t really know what else to say. school’s pretty boring lately. i really need my hair cut, my split ends are getting ridiculous. that’s about the extent of interesting things in my life right now. hoorah.
thing i ♥ of the day: Asian children and babies.
i have all sorts of exciting other things including Sweeney Todd on DVD, two new bottles of nail polish, a metal robot i’m in love with, a stuffed hedgehog, Reese’s, other various candy, and many other amazing things. also lots of money from my relatives. and my family members loved their presents from me, so that’s good. i was really excited to give them their gifts.
but, most importantly:
yesss. instead of any individual big presents this year, we got a large family present of a Wii, including Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort, and also Wii Fit. All of which are really really fun.
ooh, guess whaaat. my dad just bought Zelda: Twilight Princess. i’m flipping exciiiiteeeed. i love love love Zelda <3
anyway, it was a very fabulous Christmas <3
thing i ♥ of the day: my new Tumblr blog.
we’re not going anywhere this Christmas and i’m perfectly fine with that. i want to spend the break here, especially since we’re probably moving back to the states.
i was just thinking the other day, i love how Swedish Christmas traditions mean a lot to me now. i don’t think i can ever have another Christmas without pepparkakor and Santa Lucia and lussekatter and ischoklad and those fake candle lights in everyone’s windows.
speaking of pepparkakor, Emily & i made some from packaged dough yesterday. it was kind of weird. the dough especially, but the cookies themselves were kind of weird too.
this Advent calendar we’ve had for literally as long as i can remember. it is a huge Havenstein tradition and we have it hanging every December. <3
and of course i have a chocolate Advent calendar as well :D
thing i ♥ of the day: my scarves.
this is one of many pictures it cycles through for the desktop background, though. there are tons more. it changes every 15 minutes. and the thing in the corner isn’t always Hayley Williams, it shuffles through every picture on my computer, which is pretty freakin sweet.

i love how badly i failed with blogging every day of my last year in Sweden. i realize that that’s probably due in part to the fact that i’m not actually so sure it’s my last year anymore. that’s basically the main topic of interest in my home as of late and we have FREAKING NO IDEA WHAT WE’RE GOING TO DO.
seriously, either place we decide to live, there are going to be huge things we’ll have to deal with and pretty much the same amount of stress either way, just put into different areas depending on which we choose. but yeah. we’ll have to decide sooner or later. probably sooner. it’s wearing on all of us a lot. especially my poor mom who likes to plan ahead as much as she does.
i’m considering finding some 30-day blog challenge to do though, with like a topic for each day and stuff. i think that’d be fun. people are doing awesome 30- and 60-day challenges on Facebook that i really want to do. totally my cup of tea. yes, i just used that phrase. i did.
thing i ♥ of the day: this stuffed cat i bought from Lagerhaus the other day. his name is Humphrey Jenkins. he is pleased to meet you.
back at school after the break today. i was so sleepy and the break went by sooo quickly, even though i didn’t do too much of anything. i’m happy cause i have Wednesday and Thursday off for development talks. hooraaay.
6 1/2 weeks… 32 days counting the days off… until the winter break. and that one is like 3 weeks long or something so that’s quite nice.
i’m just not a very big fan of school.
thing i ♥ of the day: interesting and pretty nails.

actually, it’s 2 days after Halloween. silly me.
but Halloween was pretty fun. i celebrated for the first time in like 3 years. on Saturday i went to an IB2 party dressed as a pirate, which was fun. i wore red lipstick and fake eyelashes, both for the first time in my life.
i didn’t get all that many pictures; i should have taken more. i wore my mom’s boots, which was a terrible idea because she’s two sizes smaller than i am, and got the worst blister i’ve ever had before, i think, and didn’t even get a picture with them on to document how pirate-y they are. what a freaking rip-off.
besides that, my family carved a pumpkin for the first time in years…
first pumpkin we’ve ever carved as something besides a really typical jack-o-lantern face with silly teeth and stuff. i think it turned out pretty epic.
my parents had a party, too, and they decorated really cool-ly for it and dressed up all Bavarian, my mom in a dirndl and my dad in lederhosen… yes, i did have to look up how to spell both of those words… and that was cool. they carved a pumpkin out and used it as a thing for punch or something, which was freaking the coolest thing i’ve ever seen because not only was it just a pumpkin which is cool enough but they put dry ice in the drink, which took it from “really cool” to “holy crap that is epic.” and they also glued tiny spiders all over it and got a drink scooper thing, i do not know what those are called, that was totally like something that would be in a witch’s cauldron. it was so. cool.
and then on actual Halloween, i went to Richard’s house and we watched The Nightmare Before Christmas which i think is more of a Halloween movie than a Christmas movie but could be either i think. i love that movie. but anyway it’s silly because Hayley Williams and her boyfriend dressed up as Jack Skellington and Sally this year. craaazy. i follow her Tumblr in case you’re wondering how i know that information. she looked very cute.
speaking of which, i gave in and got a Tumblr. but it’s not even remotely set up yet. i keep procrastinating that. if setting up a blog really counts as procrastinating. not like there’s a deadline. whatever. but i think it’ll become like, another thing i’m ridiculously distracted from everything else by.
and on that note, i am off.
thing i ♥ of the day: Robot Unicorn Attack.
twice a week at school, on Thursdays and Fridays, i have my very favourite class – IB Art. i’m taking it as one of my three HL – higher level – courses, and i love it to death so far. by the end of the year we will have to have completed 15-20 pieces on a theme that we will choose ourselves, and they can be absolutely any medium we want, we just have to try new things and be creative and all that crap. it will be really fun, though, to see what everyone chooses as their theme and how they approach it, because the thing about art is that nobody does exactly the same thing.
also, we will have to have completed what will probably end up being two full sketchbooks, in which we write about our finished pieces, things that inspire us in other art, and everything else that the teacher tells us to write in there. we also have to print out pictures and put them in and explain why we put them there, and put in just anything else that inspires us. we haven’t done all that much with these yet… even though we’re supposed to have, and we’re turning them into the teacher tomorrow; i have a lot to do tonight… but they’ll end up being really cool, i’m sure.
so far we’ve just been doing projects that the teacher has assigned. the first was awesome; we had to outline our reflections on small mirrors in marker, get a piece of paper a little bit wet, and then put the paper onto the mirror and the drawing came off onto it. we did several of those in different colours and they all turned out different, and we put them on black paper. then we chose our favourite one and painted it, but with acrylics.
now what we’re doing is we’ve sketched the statue of Venus if we are girls and David if we are guys, and we have put rectangles on different parts of it to act as x-rays, and in those parts of the people within the rectangle we put different things that represent ourselves. it is supposed to make a collage. the background is up to us, as well. mine is turning out pretty cool. i made a tutu out of scrap tulle and that is definitely my favourite part of it.
after this the teacher is going to give us a mock theme to work with and we will practice making a piece made entirely on our own to fit the theme. i’m excited for this; it’s going to be good practice for the real thing. i’m having a hard time deciding a theme for myself… i think Stories would be a good theme; i could do stuff inspired by Alice in Wonderland and fairytales and anything to do with books or people’s background stories. there are definitely other good things i could do, though. something broad, and vague, so that you can make a big range of stuff to fit.
anyway, Art is my favourite class. i’m very glad i took it – i was unsure whether i should or not – because with all the work i’m going to do within the next two years, i’m going to need a creative outlet, even if that will be a lot of work as well. plus, i like the teacher and the people in that class a lot, and we have a lot of materials to work with and it’s very much up to us what we do.
i would scan my finished pieces and put them up, but they’re at school first of all and second of all i don’t have a scanner. sorry bout that.
thing i ♥ of the day: pretty skirts.
so, i haven’t posted in 10 days. that’s a fairly long time. in that amount of time, we did a lot of crap with the Polish students until they left last Monday, and it was really fun with them here. we were really busy all the time and it was just very awesome. i loved the Polish students and i can’t wait to see them again in May <3
my memory card for my camera has been really weird lately and i think i’ve permanently lost some pictures from their visit but i have most of them. all of the good ones, i think.
also, i’ve started taking piano lessons again. every Thursday at Kulturama, with a different teacher than the one i had before. i think i’m going to be learning piano from a completely different angle now – music theory and stuff – which is good because before i was just learning how to play specific songs and it wasn’t really helping my overall piano skills.
school is still stressful but i’m not like dying or anything right now; the break is in something like 3 weeks which is nice, especially since we’re probably not going anywhere.
but i hate Sundays ): i mean, they’re nice, i don’t hate the days themselves, but i hate knowing the next day is Monday. it’s a weekend day, yes, but it doesn’t really feel that weekend-y knowing you have to get up early the next morning.
i watched the fist 4 episodes of season 7 of The Office, which is coming out now, and it’s definitely good so far :D i laughed many times watching them, which is a good sign. even though i agree with what many people are saying that it’s starting to hold on for too long and isn’t as good as it was earlier in the show. i think this season isn’t too much, but if they make the 8th one without Steve Carell being in it then it definitely WILL be too much. for shizzle.
i have so many shows to watch, though. Grey’s Anatomy. Lie to Me. Dexter. House. etc. and tons of movies, as well. and lots of books to read.
okaaay well we’re going to go take fall pictures for 2010. a tradition that has been going on within this family for almost my whole life. not that i’m especially excited to do so, but getting it over with until next fall comes will be good. and then when i come back i absolutely MUST do homework. i promise i will. at least English and Art.
